Triplet calves are local VIPs
“The kids love them,” said Brid Murray. “Because we have twins ourselves, they have really taken to them.”
Denis and Brid’s children — Aoife, Rachel, Tadhg and twins Fiachra and Laura — have named the calves Triplets 1, 2 and 3. The trio have gained celebrity status in Kilmurry national school.
Denis Murray said: “It is extremely rare to have triplets. I was very surprised myself. Their heads were very small, and I thought they were twins.
“Once I had the first two fed, I gave a look back and was surprised to see the third one, that the mother gave birth to by herself. I had to go off and get some more milk.
“They’re three weeks old now, and they’re perfectly healthy. Our children know them all in the order in which they were born and by their personality.
“They’re a real novelty for the children, and they’re big news with their friends in the local school.”
