Fit, active and farm-aware candidates can apply to student travel group Usit and its agricultural partners in Canada. The working dates are from May 1 to November 1, with a visa.

The package includes a salary of $1,800 (€1,170) per month, rent-free accommodation on the farm, free meals, two weeks leave, and paid overtime.

ā€œCandidates must be willing to live in small town country locations, where these farms are situated,ā€ said Cherrille Quilty, Usit recruitment and business development executive.

ā€œApplicants must be able to operate farm machinery such as large tractors. Knowledge of equipment such as combine harvesters, seeding machines and sprayers would be advantageous but not essential.

ā€œYou should also be able to drive trucks or articulated vehicles, and be willing to secure a Canadian truck licence on arrival. Ideally, candidates will have some mechanical knowledge, not necessarily qualified, but can fix small problems with machinery in farms.ā€
