Prized landscape

The beautiful, mountainy but only slightly remote landscape at Kealkil, near Bantry, Co Cork, is much prized by foreign buyers.

And this spring, Denis Harrington, of Harrington Estates is selling a substantial, working sheep farm at Lacka-vane, Keakil which draws in a handy amount in forest and disadvantaged area payments — as well as forestry premia and is a tidy, working sheep farm, too.

The farm comprises 295 acres of low lying to mountain land and has disadvantaged area status, says Harrington, and this land, (although classed as common-age it’s 100% owned by the vendors) should qualify for the new Glas scheme.
