Prized landscape

And this spring, Denis Harrington, of Harrington Estates is selling a substantial, working sheep farm at Lacka-vane, Keakil which draws in a handy amount in forest and disadvantaged area payments — as well as forestry premia and is a tidy, working sheep farm, too.
The farm comprises 295 acres of low lying to mountain land and has disadvantaged area status, says Harrington, and this land, (although classed as common-age it’s 100% owned by the vendors) should qualify for the new Glas scheme.
The property includes 118 acres of five-year-old forestry, and there’s permission being sought for a further 45 acres on the land — which should add to an already healthy annual premium — for qualifying farmer buyers.
The property is being sold in one lot, says Harrington, with very committed vendors who have their eye on another property, so while the sale is private treaty, he is keen to execute a transaction as soon as possible. And to that end the price reflects the quality of what’s on offer, and in particular, the annual income available
The guide is in the region of €850,000 for the entire property, which is in one block, with excellent road frontage, he says and includes a large, 80’ by 40’ shed which comes with a large yard and internal bays that’s used housing horses and sheep.
