The South-West Fisheries Local Action Group has launched its Strategy for Small and Fishing Dependent Communities.
€1.5m investment in South-West Fisheries Local Action Group  scheme

The south-west is one of six regions participating in this initiative co-ordinated by Bord Iascaigh Mhara. Minister for Arts, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan, attended yesterday’s launch in Benner’s Hotel, Dingle, Co Kerry.

He said: “I am delighted to announce a total investment figure of €1.5m in the 2014 national South-West Fisheries Local Action Group programme, with €600,000 of that investment co-funded by Government and the European Fisheries Fund.”

The action group covers the area west of Foynes, Co Limerick, to the river at Youghal, Co Cork, effectively the coastal communities in Cork and Kerry.
