Big interest in auction of traditional farmstead

An undisturbed, traditional farmstead at Ballinabortagh, Carrignavar, Co Cork, will go to auction on Feb 20 next, as an executor’s sale.
Big interest in auction of traditional farmstead

The 51-acre property, the estate of the late William Buckley, is being sold through Dan Fleming, of Fleming Auctioneers, who expects good interest in the property.

Laid out in old field pattens, and with a lot of the land neglected, it’s nonetheless too good for forestry, he says, and would respond well to clearing and the reseeding of one half.

The remaining half is in good pasture and has been leased, but is in small fields and the property is a residential sale, but the farmhouse and yard are overgrown.

There is no reserve prior to auction, but Fleming says that it will be sold on the day and, when pushed, he agreed that an average of €7,000 to €8,000 might be the value of the good land and €3,000 to €4,000 per acre would be about right for the overgrown parts.

The farm is 6km from Carrignavar village, and 8km from Glenville, and just a short commute to Cork City.
