Two impressive farms sure to attract interest
New year, new farm of land perhaps? Two bite-size acquisitions are offered in west Cork this month through Ernest Forde of Hodnett Forde in the twin towns of Ballineen and Enniskeane.
The first is a 13-acre tillage field, after maize, which is quality land and an ideal addon, suggests Forde.
Good land with plenty of road frontage — he’s hoping to top 15k per acre for the prime property, but the guide is between €12,000 and €15,000 per acre and there’s a current offer between those parameters, he says. The land is just a mile from the village of Enniskeane and has extensive road frontage on its northern and eastern boundaries.
Ernest Forde is also offering a 20-acre holding at Derrigra, Ballineen, which he describes as an outstanding farm holding which is under grass at the moment, but could be used for tillage, if required and the property is in one large field and divided into paddocks.
It’s sheltered from south-westerlies by mature woodland.
Adjoining the main Dunmanway-Bandon road, the Derrigra land also has excellent road frontage and bounds the River Bandon too, to the south. Included are cattle handling facilities, and the property is close to the Carbery milk plant.
The agent expects offers in excess of €200,000 or the equivalent of €10,000 per acre for this private treaty sale.
