Agri-environment programme to support farmers as well as habitat

An agri-environment programme that will provide the most support to farmers who contribute the most in terms of managing habitats for wildlife and rare flora has been proposed by the Heritage Council.

The council, which is the statutory body charged with identifying, protecting, preserving, and enhancing Ireland’s national heritage, is doing so in liaison with farmers, government bodies, and other interested parties,

A lot of species-rich farmland has disappeared due to the changes that have taken place in agriculture over the years.
