Teagasc experts at yesterday’s National Beef Conference in Newpark Hotel, Co Kilkenny, noted that calves from early maturing Angus and Hereford sires now account for 25% of calves born from the national dairy herd.

As dairy farmers gear up for the abolition of EU milk quotas, Teagasc anticipates a significant increase in beef-bred calves.
