Irish farm groups have welcomed the flexibilities allowed to EU member states in policing the greening measures and in the distribution of farm payments, afforded as an outcome to this week’s CAP reform talks.

With “flexibility” the most oft-repeated goal of Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney over the past 18 months, it is no surprise he believes the Government has achieved everything it was looking for in its negotiations on the reform of CAP.

This flexibility also applies in terms of the payments ceiling being imposed on farmers in receipt of payments exceeding €150,000 annually.
