Farmers are deserting Fine Gael, with one in three of those who voted for the party in the 2011 general election now unsure who to vote for.

According to the Irish Examiner/ICMSA survey on farming attitudes, Enda Kenny’s party would take 37% of the farmer vote if an election was held tomorrow — down from the 63% they took in 2011 when Fine Gael took a record 76 seats.

However, Fine Gael would still enjoy a commanding lead over Fianna Fáil, which would take 18% of the farmer vote if a snap election was called.
