It may seem a long way off, but winter is only 120-150 days away, depending on where you farm.

You need to start assessing your stock, to see if they are on target for your intended use. Most of you have already cut your first cut grass silage, or plan to do so soon. Once silage has been made, you have determined the quality of the base feed that you will feed for all of next winter.

You can still influence second cut quality. But the die is more or less cast in relation to silage quality.
