Goldengrove shine at Clonakilty Show
They specialise in Welsh and riding ponies, four of which were big winners at Clon. Two-year-old gelding Goldengrove Sirocco was supreme pony champion and led champion of the show for Orla Whelton, Butlerstown, Bandon.
William Williamson, Glandore, won the yearling show pony class with Goldengrove Skyfall.
Goldengrove Glitz was the purebred Welsh champion and won a driving class for Frank Williams, Thurles, Co Tipperary. And Goldengrove Hermione was the part-bred Welsh pony or cob class winner at Clonakilty for Margaret Greene, Clonmel, Co Tipperary.
Claire Scott, who runs Goldengrove Pony Stud with her sister, Sarah Rymer, was thrilled, but revealed their day started badly, with the loss during delivery of the filly foal of Springtime Symphony, her daughter’s lead rein pony, after carrying 367 days. Thankfully, Springtime Symphony has recovered.
