Systems that help spread the work

By entering the name of a fertiliser in a computer in the tractor cab, users of Kverneland’s Auto Set App system can receive the most up-to-date settings for their particular fertiliser distributor.

The settings can be downloaded directly to the fertiliser distributor using a wifi dongle and a smartphone functioning as a hotspot.

The other option is to use a desktop PC with an internet connection to connect to the spreader manufacturer’s database. Data is then synchronised with the Auto Set App on IsoMatch Tellus via a USB key. The settings are then applied automatically to the machine, without the farmer having to get out of the tractor.

This device for automatically controlling the fertiliser spreader from the cab got a special mention for innovation at Sima in Paris.

Also mentioned was the similar Sulky ‘Ready To Spread’ system through which users can connect to the online Sulky Fertitest database and download the settings for their spreader, to suit fertiliser type.

There was a special mention for Amazone’s TS system which can be fitted to fertiliser distributors so that two types of spreading paddles can be used — for either whole fields or just the edges. It improves the spread on field edges without compromising the integrity of the fertiliser.

Switching from one paddle to the other while the discs are rotating can be done via the cab during operation.

The Amazone TS system is controlled by Headland-Control software, which automatically enables precise fertiliser spreading in the boundary area of a field.

The same manufacturer was mentioned for another device that brings precision at field edges — the ‘Amaselect Pro’ for spray booms fitted with servo-controlled multi-jet nozzle holders, which manages the nozzles at each end of the boom, reducing the risks of drift when spraying the edges of sensitive areas.

The system can be controlled from the cab, and operators are thus less exposed to spray products while handling nozzles.

The Muller-Elektronik system was also mentioned for individually controlling the opening and closing of each single or multiple nozzle holder on a spray boom.

It is available in electric or pneumatic variants and can be fully integrated into the spray control system.
