Sea views come free with Robert’s Cove farm land
This year, another tillage farm in the same area comes up for sale with Michael Duggan of Sherry FitzGerald O’Donovan Daly and offers 24.5 acres of ground, of which 19 acres are arable — the coastal position means that the rim of the farm is actually a cliff face.
Looking out over Robert’s Cove and the seas beyond, this land has a spectacular scenic location, but as last year’s prices showed, it also has some of the best and most productive tillage ground around, with large operators in the immediate area.
Michael Piggott is giving a conservative guide of €230,000 for the entire holding which is laid out in three fields and in one block. Falling southwards, the land is free-draining and easily accessible, being only minutes from Robert’s Cove village, Minane Bridge and it is just a short drive to Carrigaline.
The curious element with this sale is that it also includes a separate lot of one acre with a derelict cottage and this is being sold separately with a guide of €80,000. The existence of the cottage in such a sensitive, coastal area means it could qualify for a replacement house, meaning the adjoining 24.5 acres could also be purchased as a hobby farm.
However, that’s highly unlikely in the present circumstances and the cottage should easily sell on its own considering the views, the beach right next door and the 30-minute commute to Cork city.
The sale is by private treaty and the auctioneer feels the farm will be acquired as an adjunct to an existing operation.
