Farmers will take majority control of Ireland’s largest dairy ingredients processor this week, following Glanbia Plc’s approval of the purchase of some 60% of its Dairy Ingredients Ireland company by Glanbia Co-op.

A majority in favour was required at last Tuesday’s extraordinary general meeting of the plc, following last week’s 71% approval by Glanbia Co-op shareholders of the formation of the Glanbia Ingredients Ireland (GII) joint venture.

A second Glanbia Co-op special general meeting and vote will take place on Wednesday, Nov 28, at Gowran Park Racecourse in Co Kilkenny.
