One your bike for Africa

South East Cork Area Development (SECAD) is launching a ‘Bicycle Repair Scheme’ with the Tús Initiative, supported by Age Action Ireland in the coming months.

The two groups will collect second-hand bicycles donated by the public, repair and service them, before shipping to new users in Africa, where locals often travel long distances for daily errands such as collecting water, firewood or attending school.

Organiser Karen Power said: “I hope people will get involved as it is a really worthwhile project.”
