New silage, grain trailers claim high payload to weight ratio

One of the highest payload to weight ratios on the market is claimed for the new range of silage and grain trailers from the Northern Ireland based company, SK Trailers.

The company utilises laser cut body panels for a more accurate fit.

Improved body rigidity and strength, and irregular hexagonal vertical body support sections, direct the stress energy exerted on the trailer sides during transport to the vertical supports of the body, which then transfer the energy down onto the chassis where it is best absorbed. Spacing between body panel ribs progressively reducing from each end of the body to the centre is another design feature for strength at the centre of the body where it is required most.

This more durable and robust design reduces the amount of steel needed in the body, allowing trailer weight to be reduced as much as 25%.

“Half-pipe” configuration without compromising on the volume capacity of the trailer, and floor construction from a single sheet of steel, so there are no joints to slow down discharge of loads, are other design features.

All SK Trailers feature a single-tipping cylinder with 3D swivel motion system that allows for complete 360 degree oscillation.

Typical load tipping as much as 65% faster than conventional designs is claimed.
