Gaeltacht aid scheme taken over

Rural development grant aid in Gaeltacht areas is to be taken over by neighbouring local development companies, following the liquidation last September of Meitheal Forbartha na Gaeltachta (MFG).

As the legal “winding up” process continues, project promoters with fully completed contracts were contacted recently with a view to verifying project information, in order to facilitate payment of outstanding amounts.

Once this process is complete the local development companies contiguous to Gaeltacht areas will form part of an interim system of payment, in the short term, said Environment Minister Phil Hogan.
