‘New era’ as beef prices go off the scale
Last Friday, after the livestock sale in Carrick on Suir, part of me hankered for the stuffy security of an office job. A paper pushing, non-exciting office job, with the security of a guaranteed wage at the end of the week.
What caused me to have such thoughts? Why even consider an easier, less stressful life? Simply because when I saw 292kg Aberdeen Angus cross yearling bullocks making €910. I really did think the lunatics had taken over the asylum. And just for the record, in my opinion, there wasn’t anything very fancy about them.
