Some fat cows may need to go on a diet

These silages are higher in energy and cows can eat more of them compared to poorer quality silage. There is a danger, therefore, that dry suckler cows could get too forward in condition, especially if they are not calving until February or March.

To avoid this, cow body condition and feeding need to be matched.
