Marion scoops Reporting Trophy

A CANOVEE guild member has won the national ICA Trophy for Reporting.

Mum of two Marion Wall from Clomacow, Crookstown, won it for her article, What I Liked Most about ICA in 2011.

Marion, who is married to dairy farmer Donagh, and whose children, Elizabeth and Liam, are aged 15 and 13 respectively, joined Canovee ICA almost three years ago, and is now guild secretary. Since joining, her life has been trebly enriched — she has made lots of new friends in her locality, attended educational courses, and taken up leisure activities with the guild. She has been to An Grianán twice, and has completed cookery and computer skills courses, including email which she uses to keep in contact with ICA colleagues and to keep abreast of upcoming events.

Marion is grateful to ICA for encouraging her to pursue interests such as writing, and especially grateful to guild chairperson Phyllis O’Mahony, who encourages members to explore their hidden talents through activities and competitions.

Marion read her winning reporting article at Cork’s federation meeting on December 11. It was an interesting and amusing account of what for her was the ‘icing on the cake’ — her trip to An Grianán which introduced her to the world of computers, email and Google.

On behalf of the national organisation, Cork Federation president Rita Clohessy presented Marion with a trophy to mark her achievement. Cork ICA as a whole is very proud of Marion’s national win.
