Derryquay Guild always involved with community

IN its 30-year existence, Derryquay ICA Guild — located five miles west of Tralee — has had a big involvement in its local community.

Derryquay Guild always involved with community

Named for Derryquay National School, where the members had their meetings for 21 years, Derryquay ICA has had a representative on the Curraheen Community Council since that organisation was started.

“We’re very much involved in the community. We’ve been called in to cater umpteen times. We had the Eucharistic Bell here in November, and the ICA catered in the church for everyone who wanted tea and buns. We did the catering for the school’s 100-year anniversary celebrations, and when our priest, Fr Michael O’Leary, died, we did catering over the two days of the funeral,” says Breda Browne, who was the first secretary of the guild.
