Land back on the market at a new price level
The land is now back on the market, through agent Killian Lynch of Killian Lynch Auctioneers, at offers in the region of €550,000 — even though it reached €800,000 last time round.
There has been considerable interest already, says Lynch, who says the farm is fierce fattening ground, with some 65 acres of top class grassland.
The farm also has over 20,000 gallons of milk quota, and is under an early offer of €470,000, with the expectation of more to come, he says. Lynch says he’s seen a surge of interest in farming properties, and puts some of it down to investors increasingly seeing land as a safer investment haven.
The Coolavokig property bounds the River Sullane, and some of the pasture needs reclamation, but it’s a very good property overall, says the agent.
It comes with a three-bedroom bungalow of over 1,000 square feet, fully insulated to modern standards, and an old farmyard with some attractive stone outbuildings.
- The same agent has seen good interest in 70 acres of marginal farmland at Cappagh, Ballyvourney, under offer at €255,000. It’s only on the market a month, and the interest so far has been surprising, he says. Suitable for forestry, it has some 25 acres of grassland, while the remainder is rough grassland with rocky outcrops.
