Busy year for Innishannon
They were at it again last January, presenting a cheque to the Bandon conference of St Vincent de Paul, and a subscription was also made to Bóthar.
Last September featured a social night in Kinsale’s Trident Hotel (including their Fawlty Towers show). A talk by Kathleen Barry of Arthritis Ireland was the October focus.
Events in February included a demonstration by chef James Grimes. In March, members took part in a federation quiz at Knockavilla, in April, they enjoyed a jewellery demonstration. Members did their usual baking for the June Bank Holiday cake stall at the Upton Steam Rally.
The final event of the year was the annual four day outing. Based at the Carrickdale Hotel, Dundalk, members travelled by coach through Co Down and crossed Strangford Lough to Portaferry. They followed the scenic route through the Ards Penninsula to the beautiful mansion and gardens of Mount Stewart. Day three took in a tour of the Cooley Peninsula, including Newcastle. The return trip to Dundalk was via the coast road through Kilkeel, Rostrevor, Warrenpoint, and Newry. On the final day there was a stop-off in Dublin and a visit to Kilmainham Gaol and Dundrum Shopping centre. The evening meal was in the Corbett Court in Mitchelstown.
