70-acre property attracts lots of early interest

A MILE from Ballyvourney village, a 70-acre farm holding has just been listed with Killian Lynch Auctioneers, and the non-residential holding is for sale by private treaty.

70-acre property attracts lots of early interest

The property is located at Cappagh and is accessed by a minor road from the Ballymakeera side of the village.

At present, the land will need some attention, there are 25 acres of good quality grazing land, with the remainder in need of clearing and reseeding, says Killian Lynch.

The property has a south-facing, hillside location and it’s divided by a tarmacadam roadway.

The farm also has two sheds in fairly good condition as well as a cubicle house with capacity for 23 head of cattle.

The signs were only up a week and there was very good interest already, and there could be investors bidders too, because the land might be suitable for forestry, says Lynch.

That being said, however, this outside farm has been let go somewhat. Always used for grazing prior to this, it would make a good farm for drystock, or replacement stock for an existing dairy farmer. The land has a guide price of €4,000 per acre, which would bring it within the range of forestry buyers, but also makes it affordable for local farmers looking to expand. The overall asking price is an attractive €280,000.
