Open day focus on tech cow care
The most modern facilities and technology for individual cow care will be on display, in conjunction with the Dairymaster, Alltech, Easyfix and Volac companies.
The Buckleys have a high-yielding herd averaging over 1,800 gallons per cow.
There are 110 cows milking at present, with 30 dry autumn calvers, and 20 in-calf heifers.
The individual cow care that the Buckleys have implemented on their farm has resulted in a huge reduction in veterinary expenses, and improvements in milk yield and fertility. Detailed information will be available at the open day.
The technology being used on this farm gathers all the relevant information on individual cows, and enables the Buckleys to make informed and accurate decisions that give optimum returns.
A visit to the farm next Wednesday will show how modern technology and nutrition can enable farmers to produce high milk yields without encountering fertility or health problems.
