Lucky young farmers head to New Zealand

THE Farm Apprenticeship Board (FAB) will award 27 bursaries this year of €1,000 each to graduates and students of Teagasc agriculture courses — mainly in dairying.

Twenty winners will use the bursary to fund a trip to New Zealand to work for six months on dairy farms, while four will travel to the US to work on grain harvest crews for six months. A further three will use the bursary to further their agricultural studies in the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT).
