Three months to apply for rural broadband

RURAL dwellers have three months to apply for inclusion in the Rural Broadband Scheme, which aims to provide a service to remaining premises in rural Ireland that are unable to obtain a broadband internet service.

Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte said the service will be of particular importance to small-scale rural enterprises who want to trade goods and services over the internet, but who could not be included in the earlier National Broadband Scheme, or are difficult to reach, for mainly technical reasons.

Applications will be accepted from members of the public until Friday, July 29.
