Carbery herd health initiative gets underway

THE Carbery herd health initiative, launched by West Cork vets in conjunction with Munster Herd Health, Animal Health Laboratories Ireland, and the Carbery dairy group, includes herd check and J-Scan programmes.

Bulk milk samples and blood samples will be analysed and the farmer’s own vet will help to interpret the results. Munster Herd Health will introduce extra energy balance and fertility monitoring services later.

Annual reports will be supplied to participating farmers and their nominated vets.
