Strong bidding for property
There was strong demand for this large field without road frontage, sold to a local auctioneer in trust. There are active farmers in the area, says Carmody and it’s likely the purchaser was a local.
* There was also active bidding last week at an auction of land at Ballinvarrig, Castlelyons, Co Cork, and an end result of €795,000 for the 80-acre holding — the equivalent of €10,000 per acre.
Bidding started at €600,000, says auctioneer Michael Barry of Dick Barry and Sons. There were four bidders, and the property went on the market at €700,000, with two bidders taking control.
According to Barry, the demand for land is growing. “There’s still money there for the good stuff and plenty of good customers.”
