Strong bidding for property

A PRICE of nearly €15,000 per acre was realised by auctioneer Ger Carmody for an 18.5-acres farm at Baltovin, Ardfert, Co Kerry.

There was strong demand for this large field without road frontage, sold to a local auctioneer in trust. There are active farmers in the area, says Carmody and it’s likely the purchaser was a local.

* There was also active bidding last week at an auction of land at Ballinvarrig, Castlelyons, Co Cork, and an end result of €795,000 for the 80-acre holding — the equivalent of €10,000 per acre.
