28 acres of prime tillage quality
The property, in two blocks, will be offered in three lots, says auctioneer Christy Buckley, who’s looking at a guide price of €18,000 per acre for the bulk of the farm.
The land will be offered in the entire, or in three lots comprising six acres and an old cottage which is used as a store; 12 acres of prime tillage land; and 9.5 acres including an old farmyard.
The cottage and six acre lot is on offer at €200,000, and the remainder at €18,000 per acre, and strong interest is expected at the auction. The land is top class for tillage, says Buckley, producing giant fodder beet at the moment.
“It’s the cream of it, grand sandy soil and it has a crop of fodder beet and you’d hardly be able to lift the beet, you’d only get three in a wheelbarrow.”
The auction will take place at the Trident Hotel in Kinsale on March 4, unless the farm is sold previously.
