EARLY lamb producers have a bit more time this year, because Easter Sunday falls on April 24, which is almost three weeks later than in 2010.

Lambs destined for the Easter market must be available for slaughter around April 18. Target liveweight should be around 38- 42kg, depending on what carcass weight the wholesaler/butcher wants.

Expect well fleshed lambs that are being meal fed to kill out between 48 and 50%.
