Modest reaction likely to EU quota abolition

A “VERY modest” reaction from farmers is expected by the European Commission to the abolition of milk quotas in 2015.

Despite a fairly optimistic demand outlook, the commission expects EU-27 milk deliveries in 2020 to exceed the 2009 level by only 5%.

The outlook appears favourable for higher value added dairy commodities, according to the commission’s 2010-2020 agricultural markets and income prospects report.
