15 lots averaged €3,680 at National Dairy Show

THE Stars of 2010 sale after the National Dairy Show at Millstreet last Saturday averaged €3,680 for 15 lots.

Tim Fitzmaurice of Ballyduff, Co Kerry, secured the top price of €5,500 for a first-choice of five heifer calves born last month. By Braedale Goldwyn out of Alph Polly, their full sister had sold for 12,000 guineas in Britain last year.

A June calf by Macomber Oman Bogart out of Beechrow Pretty made €5,100 for seller Michael Booth of Co Laois. Pallaskenry Salesian Agricultural College sold the in-calf two-year-old Copsewood Pronto Adeen for €5,100.
