Sale in three lots of appealing farm

IT has a solid, two-storey farmhouse at its centre, and this 133-acre dairy farm at Rathcannon, Athlacca, is going to auction on the 20th of this month.

This executor’s sale is price guided at the one million euro mark by Phillip Purcell of GVM, who is prepared to sell in three lots.

The land was grazed by a ‘typical Limerick farmer’, according to Purcell, who along with cattle kept and trained horses, and occasionally had a winner – which is why there are 10 stables with an old-fashioned yard that includes a 62-head cubicle shed.

The farm was a dairy enterprise at one stage. With frontage onto two roads, the land is good quality Golden Vale grazing ground but wouldn’t be suitable for tillage, says Purcell.

The prospect of selling in lots should attract local farmers and with a holding of this size, there should be something for everyone.

The lots include 56 acres with residence and yard; 36 acres; 39 acres; or the entire property.

The overall guide price is €7,500 per acre. The auction will be held in the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare, and the farm is minutes away from Athlacca village, 15 miles from Limerick.
