Lamb holds steady, sales lower

THERE is some variation in the trend on lamb prices at the factories for this week, but overall change has been slight as is the variation between the plants.

Most of the factories are offering 430c/kg (153p/lb), plus the usual bonus for quality, some unchanged from last week and others up to 5c/kg lower. The exceptions are two Leinster plants, Moyvalley Meats paying an all in price of 440c/kg and Kepak at Hacketstown offering 435c/kg plus bonus.

In the marts the numbers on offer for the opening sales this week were generally lower and the trade is reported to be steady.
