HORSE exhibitors from north and west Cork won two of the top awards at the 66th Belgooly Show last Saturday.

The hunter championship was won by Susan Roche, Lombardstown, Mallow, while the young horse title was captured by Declan Fahey, Pearse Street, Clonakilty.

Union Hall exhibitor Ray Cahalane also had a highly successful show, winning the brood mare and foal championships. In the beef cattle section, John and Kate Tait, Rostellan, Midleton, took the top award, and showed the best beef calf. Brian Hayes, Castlepark, Kinsale, triumphed in the dairy section. As well as the supreme dairy champ, he showed the best Holstein Friesian and maiden heifer. The Barretts of Togher, Cork, showed the best Friesian heifer in milk; Philip Whitley, Carrigaline, showed the best Friesian heifer calf.
