Large holding close to city
There has been considerable interest already in this 135-acre residential holding at Deermount, Lissarda , says agent Mike Brady of the Brady Group.
Because it’s all in one block, he’s fielded calls from dairy farmers with more fragmented holdings, who see the benefit in having everything in one place.
Which is what this farm has, including a hefty quota of over 600,000 litres, a pretty good gallon-to-acreage ratio.
The property is in move-in proposition, says Brady, as its owner is retiring from farming and leaving behind a high-quality holding.
“It’s a viable, one-man operation and it will produce a good income, up to €90,000 per annum for a dairy farmer, along with a SFP of €25,000 per year,” says the agricultural consultant.
The Lissarda holding is a residential sale, including a 1970s four-bedroomed bungalow with a number of additions. The farmyard offers good quality buildings, which are up a good while, but are well maintained and work well, says Brady.
“It’s a good, solid dairy farm, and while it’s not going to command the period house type of values, it’s functional and has excellent grass ground.
“You could move in on a Monday morning and start milking, it’s at its potential.”
The Brady Group agent is giving a pre-auction guide price of €1.5 million, or €11,000 per acre for the farm, which is very well laid out, he says. It comes with a central farm roadway with paddocks and what it lacks in road frontage, it makes up for in layout with the milking parlour close to the land, and a good yard.
The land is dry and fairly high, on the outskirts of Kilmurray village with plenty of amenities. The main Cork to Macroom road connects to the city in about 20 minutes.
The auction will take place on June 24 in the Oriel House Hotel, Ballincollig.
