Holstein sets record
The four year old has produced a 365-day record of 72,170 pounds of milk, with 2,787 pounds of fat and 2,142 pounds of protein (6,993 gallons or 31,792 litres at 3.86% fat and 2.96% protein).
Bred and owned by Thomas J Kestell of Waldo, Wisconsin, Ever-Green-View also holds US junior four-year-old records for milk and fat production in the 305 and 365-day categories.
Mr Kestell says that they have been working more than 28 years with this cow family, one of which sold for $100,000 in 2003.
He has genomically tested her and is eagerly awaiting the results. They did not breed her this year and plan to flush her.
