Strong interest expected in sale of 40-acre farm

THE forthcoming auction of a small farmstead at Leap in west Cork should prove interesting.

Strong interest expected in sale of 40-acre farm

Paddy Murray of ERA Paddy Murray Auctioneers says has already fielded over 40 calls. He feels confident that dividing the 40-acre holding into affordable 12 to 14-acre lots will bring the bidders to the auction on March 12 in the Celtic Ross Hotel.

A four-bed farmhouse with an acre is being sold as a separate lot. Considering the location near Leap, Glandore and Union Hall villages, in the heart of holiday home territory, the €100,000 pre-auction house guide price should whet the appetite. The farm is north of Leap on the Drinagh road. The farmhouse is in good condition with outhouses with conversion potential.

The land is easily divided into three lots, says Paddy Murray. A 12-acre parcel includes modern sheds and covered and open silage pits.

Part of the farm is marshy, bounded by the Mullaghnagowan River, but most of it is good quality and suitable for silage. Paddy Murray’s pre-auction guide price is €12,000 per acre.
