400 acres with €9,500 entitlements on the market
Tom Dwane of O’Donoghue and Sons is selling the farm at Garrane South, Cahirciveen, which includes a bungalow residence in need of repair, and two old stone outhouses.
Run for years as a sheep farm, the land is being sold by private treaty with a guide price of €1 million.
Although a substantial holding, there are just 35 acres of good quality grassland. Most of that is near the house, with road frontage.
The land is divided by a public road, with 135 acres of bog on one side, which Dwane says is very suitable for afforestation, subject to planning permission. The better land on the other side, fully fenced, runs over Caunoge mountain. This land was once commonage.
The farmhouse and yard are 500m from the road, and the farm is less than 10km from Cahirciveen.
The sale is by private treaty and because of the layout and nature of the ground, the agent is open to negotiation and is prepared to sell in lots.
There are entitlements of €9,500 per annum going with the farm.
