Purchaser and vendor happy as Kerry holding nets €13,500 per acre

AUCTIONEER Brendan Mannix’s gavel-wielding debut bore fruit for the executors of land at Knockavinnane, Ballymacelligott, Tralee.

The agent’s first auction saw a large crowd assemble at O’Riada’s Bar last week for the sale of the 34.15 acre holding, with an offer of €300,000 already received prior to auction.

Bidding opened at that level, and rose in €10,000 increments until it reached €460,000, at which stage the property was declared “on the market”. No further bids were received, and the farm was knocked down to a local purchaser with a farming background.
