Cork Marts in bovine semen initiative

CCM Dovea Genetics has been formed by Cork Marts and Dovea Genetics to sell bovine semen directly to dairy and beef farmers.

A Cork Marts spokesman said they want to improve the quality of cattle in their area, and it is a natural extension of the livestock services they offer to shareholders.

Pending approval of their premises for semen storage, CCM Dovea Genetics aim to commence selling semen in the upcoming autumn breeding season, with a view to developing and growing their business beyond the DIY sector and perhaps eventually supplying technician services.
