This left export plant quotes generally at 159 to 164 cent per kg, plus the welfare bonus of 2 to 6c.
Pork slaughterers quoted from 162 to 166c.
Sow and weaner prices advanced to €32 to 38 per cwt liveweight, and €52 to 55 for 32 kg weaners.
Prices have also increased on the continent, by up to 7c/kg in the Netherlands, Germany and Austria, attributed to supply shortages.
For the first week of July, Ireland’s factory pig throughput was 47,072 — 1,397 head less than the previous week, and 269 head less than in the corresponding week in 2007.
