A THREE-YEAR-OLD bay gelding won the young horse championship for a Limerick exhibitor at Cork Summer Show.

Tommie Casey, Carrigdown Cross, Ennis Road, took the honours with Benji from a top quality line up.

The winning gelding is by Chevalier Decoupes out of Holycross and was bred by Robert Barrett, Mallow.

Winners of the hunter championships were Daphne Kierney and Jane Bradbury from Wicklow, with Giorgio, a five-year-old gelding by Darnay, out of Forever Buskins.

In the cattle rings, Albert de Cogan, Killamuckey, Castlemartyr, Co Cork won the Hereford and Angus championships, as well as the inter breed beef award.

Timothy Corridan, Fedamore, Co Limerick, had a championship double when taking the Charolais and Limousin titles.
