Stunning location, 30 acres. Tempted?
Renowned as the Irish Rhine, the Blackwater Valley is a most sought-after area and it has the best of land.
The farm, which is laid out in permanent pasture is on the market with Margaret Harty of Harty and Co and she gives a guide in excess of €15,000 per acre for it.
It comes with extensive road frontage and is laid out in six fields with mature hedgerow boundaries.
In an elevated position, the views are superb and take in Knockanore on the opposite bank.
It’s a unique opportunity to buy land in the area, says Harty, and would suit a farmer looking to extend or a hobby farmer.
However, because of its protected nature, planning permission in the valley is hard to come by and there’s a ‘locals only’ when it comes to one-off homes.
The same agent has premium land on offer on the outskirts of Lismore at Town’s Park East and expects to make in excess of €25,000 per acre for this 11-acre field.
Top-class tillage land, it would also be suitable as horticultural ground, she says, and might even suit an organic enterprise.
Currently under tillage, the property may have potential for one house, as it’s within walking distance of the heritage town, but as it’s really top quality ground, a farmer could be the likely buyer.
