EU tightens up on food labelling, forbidding misleading information

THE EU has proposed much more precise rules forbidding misleading indications of origin or provenance of a food.

Principal ingredients coming from a country other than the country of manufacture is among proposed specifications.

Industry analysts say such a rule will protect some manufacturers from unfair competition, and may impact on choice of location for factories and suppliers.
