Irish pig prices slip behind EU

IFA says further pig price increases were seen across the continent this week of between 3 and 6c/kg, but the Irish price did not move — although prices in the North have increased substantially.

As a result, Irish prices have slipped a little behind the EU average this week.

Export plants are mostly at 130 to 141c/kg on a flat rate basis, plus the welfare bonus of 2 to 6c.

Pork slaughterers quote from 134 to 142c. The 32 kg weaners are at €46 to 48, and sows are at €22 to 26 per cwt liveweight.
