UNFORTUNATELY for sheep farmers, the trend in the beef trade after Christmas has not fully transferred to the lamb prices this week.

Most Irish lambs now bought for the home market

However, factory quotes are improved, by 5 to 10 cents/kg (2p to 4p/lb) compared to the weak pre-Christmas trade.

Factories are quoting 354 to 356 cents/kg (126p or 127p/lb) as a base price for the lambs.
