JOHN BRYAN is stepping down from the position of IFA livestock chairman following four years of tremendous achievements.

IFA President Padraig Walshe thanked the Co Kilkenny farmer for his role in delivery of the campaign on EU beef import standards which will limit Brazilian beef imports to only 300 farms; an €80 per cow payment from the new Suckler Cow Welfare and Quality scheme; a €17m payback to farmers from the special beef premium overshoot campaign and his work to protect the live export trade.

Michael Doran from Duncormick, Co Wexford, has been elected to take over as National Livestock Chairman on January 29.
